Meet Dr. Rubens
I am a licensed clinical psychologist focused on sleep and mental health in young children. I completed my doctoral training in clinical child psychology at the University of Kansas, including a pre-doctoral internship at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and a post-doctoral fellowship at the Dana Farber/Boston Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center. I utilize evidence based approaches to treat a range of sleep and mental health issues in children while considering each family's unique strengths and needs. I am licensed to practice as a clinical psychologist in Illinois.
In addition to working with directly with children and families, I am on faculty at Santa Clara University. I have an extensive publication record related to the latest research on sleep and mental health in youth and I have taught undergraduate and graduate psychology classes for many years. In addition, I give lectures and workshops on sleep to clinicians, businesses, schools, and community members. I am a sleep expert with the Pediatric Sleep Council, in which I contribute content to the website babysleep.com, and am also on the editorial board for the blog at infoaboutkids.org. I serve on the executive board of the American Psychological Association's Society for Child and Family Practice and Policy and I am also a member of the Society for Behavioral Sleep Medicine.
